Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I apply for a position I’m interested in? Job postings, or competitions, as they are also known, are typically posted for five business days. Applicants are welcome to submit a cover letter and resume, up to midnight on closing day of the competitions. Please quote the competition number on all correspondence, and apply by using one of the following four methods: Please quote the competition number in the subject line of your email, those applicants applying electronically will receive an email confirming receipt of their resume. How do I know if I’m considered an internal candidate? For Support Staff position opportunities, internal candidates are defined by the Support Collective Agreement (p.72) as current full time support staff employees. For Academic position opportunities, internal candidates are defined by the Academic Collective Agreement (p.22) as current full time professors and partial load professors who have active contracts or who have had contracts within the month previous to the posting. How do I obtain a copy of the job description for the position I’m interested in applying for? Contact the Recruitment Coordinator, by email, at resumes@humber.ca or by telephone 416 675-5088. Please have the competition number of the job description you’re interested in obtaining available for reference. I’m interested in working at Humber College but I haven’t seen a specific position I’m qualified for. Can I still apply? When are teaching positions usually posted? Much of our academic hiring is done just prior to the start of a semester, typically in December and April, and also during the summer months. Academic starting salaries are determined in accordance with the Collective Agreement (p.19), which takes into consideration educational credentials and years of work experience. |
