Professor, Baking and Pastry Arts
The successful candidate will be required to teach Baking and Pastry Arts courses within the Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, Baker Apprenticeship, Cook Apprentice and Advanced Chocolate and Confectionary Graduate Certificate programs at North campus. The incumbent may be required to teach in other related programs. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will have Baker Red Seal designation, with a minimum of 10 years of work experience, 3 of which are in a leading position in the Baking and Pastry Arts industry such as Hotel, Catering and Commercial Operations. Further, preference will be given to those applicants who possess a diploma in pastry. The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching ability and will be well versed in all practical and theoretical applications of Baking and Pastry Arts. Completion of the TEC (Training Effectiveness Certification) would be an asset. In addition, the successful candidate will possess well-developed interpersonal communication, teamwork and problem solving skills; and have demonstrated curriculum development, delivery and teaching ability; and an understanding of the learning process, and be dedicated to student success.
