Position Summary

The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Electrical Engineering programs at the North campus. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.


The successful candidate will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study with a minimum of five years of project based, hands –on teaching and relevant industry research is required. The successful candidate must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, with knowledge of the main disciplines of Electrical Engineering and ability to teach courses in PLC, analog and digital communication. Experience with printed circuit design and surface mount technology would be an asset, as well as the ability to teach system design techniques using LabView. Experience leading project teams of undergraduate students working on Industry projects / applied research across a broad industry base is required. Experience as a trainer in business or industry is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will possess well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills; and demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery; as well as the ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students; commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment. A strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations and industry is an asset.
