The Sustainability Specialist plays a key role in supporting the strategy of ensuring Humber’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in institutional planning and decision-making. The incumbent actively participates in the formulation of college policy through the development of new programs and is accountable for program outcomes. The incumbent will synthesize data, suggestions, reports, and in collaboration with the Sustainability Manager, will be a key facilitator of the promotion and integration of sustainability in all aspects of college functions; be it operations, campus life or academia.
The successful candidate will possess a 4-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study, e.g. sustainability, sustainable development, environmental science, environmental studies or social sciences. A Master’s degree and EP Certification would be considered an asset. Additionally, the incumbent will possess a minimum of three years of work-related experience with demonstrated skills and training in the fields of sustainability, project management and communications, marketing/public relations/networking; superior written and oral communication skills, with particular skill regarding report writing and website content editing; experience coordinating sustainability activities at a large institution and excellent presentation and public speaking skills. Additional qualifications include; strong ability for project planning, implementation and management; strong ability to educate and persuade people regarding sustainability issues; ability to lead collaborative groups and practical skills regarding budget development and administration.
