Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean in the School of Social & Community Services, the stockroom attendant is responsible for the following duties:
• Monitor, review, and analyze inventory data to establish and maintain adequate inventory levels for all firefighting personal protective clothing and equipment, as well as medical supplies for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Program
• Routinely inspect firefighting personal protective clothing for compliance with safety standards
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment: SCBA packs and cylinders, bunker gear, hose, tools
• Routinely fill SCBA cylinders, as well as monitor and maintain the Cascade system
• Communicate and coordinate with College staff, instructors, administrators, students, vendors and partners
• Coordinate logistics for equipment and apparatus for firefighter practical skills evolutions and live fire training
• Provide student, instructor, and staff support during live fire training including replacing or fixing equipment during time-sensitive training evolutions
• Assist with gathering supplies and preparing equipment for fire extinguisher training delivered to various other Humber departments
• Build and create props required by the program


• Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures for various tools and equipment used as part of the Pre-Service program, knowledge of SCBA equipment is considered an asset
• Possess mechanical aptitude to be able troubleshoot deficiencies in equipment, complete small repairs and be knowledgeable when repairs should be conducted with persons with more skills and knowledge
• Valid “DZ” license
• Graduate of a Ontario College Pre-Service Fire program considered an asset
• Candidates must display SSCS values of respect, integrity, compassion, self-awareness, and inclusion.
• Travel to partner sites is required
