Support Services Assistant
The School of Social and Community Services is hiring a part-time (24 hours per week) role to provide reception support at the front desk in the Medical Building located at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus. The incumbent will provide front line customer service to students, faculty, prospective students as well as members of the public. Responsibilities will include providing support services to the entire SSCS academic portfolio, sorting and distributing mail, directing students toward faculty and staff members, maintaining an organized office space, monitoring office supplies, restocking and ensuring general preparedness of the Child and Youth Care play labs, tracking hand-in dates for student assignments, preparing reports, escalating matters as appropriate, and other duties as assigned. The incumbent will be required to move between the School’s 5 buildings at the Lakeshore campus throughout their scheduled shifts. The incumbent will be required to provide support to School-wide survey initiatives such as KPIs and Help Surveys, and will provide event support on an occasional basis. This role will report to the Business Manager and will also receive work assignments from the SSCS management team. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required with adequate notice. Occasional off-site travel may be required but will be minimal (less than 1x per month). Shifts will be scheduled 4 days per week from 9am -3pm.
The incumbent will be a self-starter and will take initiative to continually improve the office space and its related procedures in conjunction with their supervisor. Applicants will have at minimum a diploma and two years’ related work experience. The incumbent will have intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly, Excel, Word, Outlook email and calendaring. Superior organizational, follow-through, and time management skills are required. This role requires strong judgement, tact, discretion, and diplomacy. The incumbent will be a strong communicator with demonstrated experience in building productive professional relationships among colleagues. The incumbent will be able to organize competing demands and meet deadlines.
