Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Transition & Leadership Programs, the incumbent is responsible for facilitating the community welcome that takes place in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Orientation sessions that are facilitated at Humber’s three campuses. In partnership with the Manager, this responsibility includes all facets of planning and implementation, as well as the development and delivery of a marketing, media and communications strategy. The incumbent is also responsible for the development, facilitation and advancement of Humber’s pre and post orientation programs (Online Orientation). The Coordinator also supports the development and delivery of transition-related programs at Humber’s three campuses. Rooted in student development theory and unique characteristics and demographics of the Humber community, these programs will aim to develop the “whole” student while assisting in their transition into, through, and at the end of their college experience. This position is responsible for enhancing the quality of the student transition experience and contributing to an exceptional student experience at Humber. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a three year diploma or equivalent within the fields of Education, Psychology, Public Relations, Social Work, or Human Development. Any courses in Student Affairs or Student Development Theory is also an asset. The candidate must demonstrate ability and proven success within the field of student services at a post-secondary institution for a minimum of three years. Additionally, they must have direct experience in Orientation and Transition programs. The candidate must also demonstrate effectiveness in event planning, and have experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating student programs and training modules. Experience in developing marketing campaigns that involve the use of new media is an asset, along with strong public speaking and presentation skills. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds is also required.
