Pharmacy Technician Placement Advisor and Laboratory Technician
The successful candidate will coordinate, in collaboration with faculty, hospital and community placements for Pharmacy Technician students in the Pharmacy Technician program. In particular, the successful candidate will provide support by contacting hospital and community pharmacy departments to confirm student placements, liaise with students, hospitals/community pharmacies and other departments as necessary to ensure all student placement requirements are met and organized in a timely manner, prior to placement start date(s). In addition, the incumbent will also assist with the pharmacy technician laboratories. Specific duties will include, laboratory set-up and breakdown, ordering supplies, ensuring computer software’s are functioning, etc. This individual will work as an effective team member within the Allied Health program cluster.
The successful candidate will hold a Pharmacy Technician Diploma or Degree in Pharmacy (PharmD, B.Sc.Phm), and be a Registrant of the Ontario College of Pharmacists with three (3) years of pharmacy experience (hospital pharmacy experience preferred). The incumbent will have a demonstrated commitment to student success and a track record of mentoring. Moreover, the incumbent must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in order to explain complex policies and procedures to both students and placement partners. Additional skills and qualifications include: excellent interpersonal, listening, customer service, telephone, and organizational skills; the ability to multitask throughout frequent interruptions, fluctuating volumes, and ongoing deadlines; the ability to perform basic arithmetic; capacity to undertake tasks and duties according to procedures and standard processes; the ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating confidence and good judgement; and flexibility in working as a team member or independently.
