Position Summary

Reporting to the Curator, the Education Officer will research, design, and implement collaborative curricular and extracurricular programming between Humber’s eight Schools and our exhibitions. The role is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading class visits, workshops, and outreach programs for a diverse range of students. The Education Officer develops a vision for how Humber Galleries can enhance the student experience across the disciplines. Additional responsibilities include: establishing relationships with students, faculty, and Humber community members; fostering links between exhibitions, programs, the Humber curriculum, and the local context; initiating collaborations with academic programs/partnerships with campus resource groups; coordinating/marketing a program of class visits, tours, workshops, research files, publishing, talks, and screenings; providing administrative and research support to the Curator; and performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful candidate will posses a minimum of a BFA along with 3-4 years experience in planning and delivering visual arts education programming. A master’s degree in studio practice, curatorial studies, or art education is beneficial. The Education Officer must have a broad knowledge of a variety of visual arts media, materials, and techniques. In addition, the successful candidate must possess proactive communication and interpersonal skills with all types of learners. Strong skills in beginning and sustaining communications with students, faculty, and community. Other qualifications include strong organizational and administrative skills.
