Humber’s Centres of Innovation and Entrepreneurship will integrate applied research into program curricula and provide students with access to interdisciplinary and industry projects. We are seeking faculty who will provide students with an exceptional learning experience as we immerse our students in experiential learning and programs that empower them to think critically, make bold choices and become leaders of change.

The successful candidates will be required to teach courses in the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology programs at the North campus and involvement and support activities that contribute to Humber’s Centres of Innovation (COI). In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; contribution in program development, applied research, and other co-curricular activity involvement. The successful candidates will be expected to nurture an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member.
In addition, the successful applicants be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidates will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. These individuals will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
The successful candidates will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or a related field of study with a minimum of three years of industry experience in a relevant field and must have polytechnic post-secondary education experience, or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry. Experience in presenting research through conferences, or publishing in peer reviewed journals, and having an establish program of applied research would be assets.
The successful candidates must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (Licensed engineers with PEO is preferred), with knowledge of the main disciplines of Mechatronics, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering. Experience coordinating project teams of learners working on industry projects / applied research across a broad industry base; and the integration of industry-led projects into curriculum is an asset. A strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations and industry is an asset.
In addition, the successful candidates will have the ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students; a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, and fostering innovation and positive change; ability to coach and support students, experience managing classroom dynamics, and an understanding of the learning process, a student focused approach. Additionally, a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion; ability to be a collaborative team player; well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills, and demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery are required.
