Position Summary

The Data Conversion Expert will be responsible for the design, development and testing of all data transformation, extraction and migration activities for Humber’s HRMS system. The incumbent will effectively and efficiently monitor data cleansing and the data conversion processes; assist with the development of testing scripts and data conversion automation; participate in executing the test scripts and guiding users through the data conversion processes; ensure data dictionaries are timely, updated and clearly documented to meet project deliverables; and provide expertise on data issues and preparing the associated communications to meet project reporting cycles. As a member of the Project Management Office, the incumbent will participate in daily scrum activities and the overall scrum lifecycle. As well, each HRMS project team member is responsible for: understanding the project objectives, alternative project methodologies and team ground rules; analysis work, providing recommended solutions using a variety of tools including presentations, briefing notes and reports; communicating to and soliciting information from other experts when necessary; attending, participating and/or leading meetings and discussions; completing all assigned project deliverables and associated documentation at various levels of detail for appropriate stakeholder communications; risks and issues management including feedback and guidance to project team members and partners; working with the Change Management Team and providing guidance and support of organizational change and communication; participating in activities for testing, materials development and training of the HRMS solution; understanding the overall HRMS solution with a focus on your domain of expertise and interdependent partners (internal and external); and complete and execute Knowledge Transfer and Sustainment plans to ensure the HR Department is able to support the HRMS solution and processes. The incumbent will also be responsible for completing emerging requirements based on project or organizational needs.


The successful candidate will possess a degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience performing data conversions in ERP/HRMS/large scale system integration initiatives. An equivalent combination of education, industry experience and/or certifications will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who possess experience with HRMS and other system integrations. Additional qualifications include: strong analytical skills backed by high proficiency in dealing with data, including but not limited to, assessments, modelling, architecture, Extract-Transform-Load, cleansing, conversion, error handling, field integrity using industry best practices, and a wide variety of tools; demonstrated expert level database skills including experience with various databases (Oracle, Microsoft databases and other database tools); and strong communications skills to ensure required data compliance and security are factored into the conversion lifecycle.
