Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Management
Under the general direction of the Director, Public Safety and Emergency Management, the Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Management is responsible for the development, evaluation and ongoing maintenance of the college’s Emergency Response, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans and procedures. The incumbent will oversee the daily operational activities of all emergency management functions within the college and will ensure that the college maintains a state of operational and procedural readiness to react and respond to emergency situations or interruptions of essential functions. The incumbent will provide guidelines/processes for full recovery of services/programs vital to the college. This position will also be responsible for supporting the college’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and will provide leadership and technical guidance on the implementation of various emergency response plans. The incumbent will have managerial responsibility over one direct report.
The successful candidate will possess a university degree (Master’s preferred), or a diploma in emergency management, security and/or administration with certification or courses in emergency management, business continuity/disaster recovery planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to this position (e.g. CBCP, DRI, Advanced IMS). The incumbent will also possess a minimum of 5 years of work experience. Additional qualifications include written and oral communication skills; experience working within large and complex organizations; superior knowledge of emergency management principles, fire prevention and life safety codes; conflict resolution and customer service skills and the ability to think clearly, communicate concisely and act effectively in emergency situations.
