Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Advising and Career Services, the Career and Student Success Advisor is a proactive team member responsible for academic and career advising to prospective and current students, and Humber graduates. The incumbent provides developmental advising that helps a student throughout their life cycle while at Humber. The Career and Student Success Advisor will be assigned to an academic school and will spend time advising students both on site in the academic school and at the central institutional hub for advising. They will use a holistic approach grounded in development, intrusive and lifecycle theory and practice, designed to effectively address intersecting needs and support student success. In addition, through facilitating and interpreting personal interest/strengths and skills assessments, the incumbent must be adept at connecting a student’s academic choices to their career choices.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a 3-year diploma/degree in HR, Education, Social Sciences, Psychology or related discipline, along with a certificate, diploma or a professional designation in Student Affairs/Services or Counselling Techniques. They will have a minimum of 3 year of progressive experience in an educational environment or a combination of educational and social services environment with assessing and advising clients. Additional qualifications include, use of CRM or client management systems, collecting and maintaining a database, utilizing social media platforms for marketing and recruitment.
