Position Summary

The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Dean and be required to teach courses in the Bachelor of Design, User Experience Design grad certificate, and potentially in related programs in the areas of Graphic Design, Web Design & Interactive Media, and Multimedia Design & Development at the North campus. The ideal candidate should have expertise and ability to teach relevant courses on topics such as multimedia, graphic and web design, digital media analytics, content management systems and research methodologies. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.


The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, relevant professional skills/credentials and proficiency in the field of user experience design, service design, applied research; and at least 5 combined years of related professional experience and previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level in a polytechnic or college environment. Well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills are required, as is demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery. The applicant is also expected to have superior written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, mediation skills; commitment to teamwork, the ability to work in a diverse and dynamic multicultural environment with limited resources, and a high degree of attention and focus to detail. As well, candidates should have an understanding of and competency in the teaching/learning profession with a learning-centred approach; awareness of the rich diversity of the population within our learning community and respect for all members regardless of learning needs and differences; a proven ability to arrange field placements and strong industry ties to support integrated internship opportunities.

Academic start salaries are determined by qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the current Collective Agreement for Academic Employees. As per Article 14.03 A 3 of the Academic Collective Agreement, a Coordinator’s allowance will be paid in addition to the successful candidate’s salary as a Professor.
