Professor, Mathematics & Statistics
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Mathematics department at the North and Lakeshore campuses. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the department, assisting with departmental promotion and outreach, and developing and maintaining strong professional affiliations.
The successful candidate will have a completed PhD in statistics or a related field of study, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level. The candidate should also be conversant with current educational technologies including in-class presentation media, BlackBoard and other relevant classroom technologies. The successful candidate will be required to have demonstrated learning assessment skills, excellent teaching skills adaptable to different instructional settings and student needs; a commitment to student-centred learning; well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills; demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery; ability to work with students of varied educational and cultural backgrounds; an interest and experience in functioning as a team member; and well-developed information technology skills.
