Position Summary

The IT Portfolio Manager will capture new project demands and will be the single point-of-contact responsible for the Project Intake process with the schools, other service departments, and Information Technology Services. The IT Project Portfolio Manager will work with client partners to help identify and formulate initiatives, and will assist departments/schools with developing proposals, and business cases. They will assess and document how the initiatives help clients achieve their objectives, while maintaining alignment with Humber’s strategic and business plans. The ITS Project Portfolio Manager will facilitate prioritization of information technology project requests by the Technology and Information Management Steering Committee.

Qualifications

o The successful candidate will possess honesty, integrity and a combination of education, experience, and achievements that will enhance the ability to communicate a vision and command respect within the college. The incumbent will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to capture and explain goals and objectives to business as well as technical leadership. o They will possess a high degree of political sensitivity, astuteness and the ability to effectively use the informal power structure. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in Information technology across the full project life cycle and will have excellent analytical, collaboration and facilitation skills. This candidate will also have demonstrated experience in building trust and rapport and managing relationships with business executives and other stakeholders. They will have strong business acumen, including industry and domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units as well as familiarity with industry trends and innovation. o They will have a 4-year undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years work experience. Familiarity with one or more project/program management methodologies (such as PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile and MSP) is critical and PMP Certification is an asset. Experience in a unionized, public sector environment is also an asset as is experience in education.
