The incumbent will teach, design and develop curriculum for Humber’s Film and Multiplatform Storytelling Graduate Certificate. As a professor and coordinator, the candidate will regularly revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, and work collaboratively with colleagues. Teaching assignments may extend into any of our time-based media storytelling programs both at the Bachelor degree and Diploma level at the North or Lakeshore campuses.
In addition to supporting student recruitment and student mentoring, the incumbent will contribute to the overall direction nof the program, assist with the promotion and marketing of the program, and develop and maintain strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will have a MFA (PhD preferred) along with a minimum of 7 years related industry and successful teaching experience. Industry acumen and experience is required along with specialized skills in the following areas: visual arts, digital arts, media production, and interactive media. In addition to being competent in traditional media production, the ideal candidate should have experience telling stories with other digital platforms whether they be immersive, social, augmented, interactive, data driven or other. Outside of subject specific competencies, the applicant is expected to possess: superior written and oral communication skills, mediation skills, commitment to teamwork, the ability to work in a diverse and dynamic multicultural environment, a high degree of attention and focus to detail; proven ability to arrange field placements; possess strong industry ties; understanding of and competency in the teaching/learning profession with a learning-centred approach; a strong commitment to ongoing professional development; excellent presentation, interpersonal, organizational skills; and a clear commitment to a strong customer service orientation. Membership in a sector-related association would be an asset.
The successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.

Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees. As per Article 14.03 A 3 of the Academic Collective Agreement, a Coordinator’s allowance will be paid in addition to the successful candidate’s salary as a Professor.
