Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Student Transfer Services, the Student Mobility Advisor develops, coordinates and processes transfer credits and prior learning assessments in support of previous related academic and work experience. As part of Humber’s Strategic Plan of Enhancing Student Choice by: Expanding Degrees and Pathways, the incumbent is the subject matter expert on transferability and pathways amongst Humber to Humber, and non-Humber to Humber courses and program options. The incumbent provides information and communicates with prospective students, applicants, guidance counsellors, parents, faculty and college administrators regarding a broad range of transferability options.
The incumbent supports the College’s recruitment and admissions efforts by delivering information sessions on campus and travelling locally and throughout the province at various college fairs, post-graduate panels, degree panels, etc. The successful candidate will continuously communicate and advise applicants through the admissions process and throughout the progression toward their educational goals by reviewing previous academic education and work experience, and how this may be applied to their program of choice.
Additionally, the incumbent analyzes and recommends solutions or enhancements to transfer related processes. In addition, to advocating and supporting students with transfer credit enquiries and options the incumbent will liaise with various schools and departments to build awareness pertaining to transfer opportunities and processes.
The incumbent recommends and implements office-wide and college-wide procedures through the use of automation; assists in the evaluation and implementation of system enhancements; and collaborates with Registrarial and IT staff. The incumbent will create and update communications both in hard copy an online, when information is revised or new information is obtained regarding transfer credits, pathways, and Prior Learning Assessment Recognition. The Student Mobility Advisor through various training sessions, train staff on new initiatives, revisions to the current process and highlight Ministry changes that impact transferability opportunities.


The successful candidate will possess a three year diploma/degree or equivalent in Business, Public Relations, or equivalent. The incumbent must have the ability to research and resolve problems independently. They must demonstrate the use of initiative both in planning work and in taking a pro-active approach to addressing customer concerns. Escalating complaints and concerns if necessary to management. Consistent attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required, along with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks, frequent interruptions, fluctuating volumes, and ongoing deadlines.
The incumbent will also have superior communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes, thorough knowledge of the secondary school, college, and university system, and some knowledge of the educational systems in other provinces and countries. They must have leadership skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to train and motivate a team. The candidate will have excellent organizational and presentation skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated proficiency in student information systems, especially relational databases. Finally, they will have the ability to work in a highly automated environment.
