Professor, Film & Media
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Film & Media Production programs at the Lakeshore and North campus. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will have a post-graduate degree, PhD or MFA preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and 5 years of related industry experience or recognition as a storyteller in time-based media. In addition to experience as a creative producer/director, the ideal candidate will be well versed in post-production, including, but not limited to, picture editing, sound editing, colour correction, motion graphics, and digital output. Candidates should be competent in a range of post-production industry standard software such as Avid Media Composer & Pro Tools, Adobe After Effects & Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve. Well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills are required, as is demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery. The applicant is also expected to have superior written and oral communication skills, mediation skills, commitment to teamwork, the ability to work in a diverse and dynamic multicultural environment, a high degree of attention and focus to detail; proven ability to arrange field placements; possess strong industry ties; understanding of and competency in the teaching/learning profession with a learning-centred approach; a strong commitment to ongoing professional development; excellent presentation, organizational skills; and a clear commitment to a strong customer service orientation. Membership in a sector-related association would be an asset.
