Position Summary

Reporting to the Dean, School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism, the Director, Operations and Procurement is responsible for the vision, planning and implementation of academic related programs and services intended to support the student experiential learning experience, employee morale and motivation. The Director, Operations and Procurement will provide operational expertise to mitigate risk and ensure optimal fiscal outcomes for all school procurement and practical learning outcomes. Other responsibilities include:
 
• Budget development and accountability for all lab related operating costs in the School
• Responsible for budget development and accountability for all school partnership funds and capital equipment
• Oversee the operations, maintenance and sanitation of all labs within the School, including 11 hospitality labs, 9 health and wellness labs and 2 computer labs, as well as HRT’s purchasing and receiving areas
• Lead the procurement process for HRT, including RFP’s, RFI document approvals, quotes & vendors
• Lead HRT in ensuring compliance to Humber and Ministry guidelines
• Chair the School of Health & Safety Committee and ensure all health and safety guidelines are met
• Responsible for partnership relationships
• Lead the School in the design and build of the approved new capital expansion project for purchasing and receiving
• Develop strategies and support for supplier relations.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a four-year undergraduate degree in the field of Food Services Management, or related, along with seven years of progressive experience. The incumbent will have a demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement new services; must interact effectively at all levels within the School; manage human and fiscal resources and have demonstrated supervisory and strategic planning skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess practical knowledge and understanding in the areas of:
 
• Facilities and design management
• Risk management
• Accounting and information systems
• Cost-benefit analysis
• Customer service delivery
• Food service delivery / hospitality management
• Occupational Health & Safety
• Purchasing/contract law
