Your First Day

  • Report to your new Department/School at agreed location and time
  • Employee ID card. Visit Information Technology Services with one piece of government issued photo ID. (North, NX210; Lakeshore, A212)
    • You must already have your HCNet account set up. See below
  • Obtain employee parking pass, if necessary. Ask for a corporate ticket at the Registration Office (North, D133; Lakeshore, A118)
  • Verbally review job description with your manager, obtain a hardcopy for signature
  • Review office policies including:
    • Working hours
    • Telephone, e-mail and Internet use
    • Office organization (forms, files, supplies, etc)
    • Dress code
    • Staff meetings
    • Accountability
    • Customer service philosophy
    • Confidentiality
    • Ethics
    • Internet use
    • Performance expectations
  • Set aside 30 minutes at the end of the day with your manager to discuss questions and set agenda for the next day
  • Schedule follow-up meeting with your manager within the next month to discuss roles and responsibilities
  • Congratulations you have completed your first day!

  • Long distance code and voicemail password (Contact ext. 8888)*
  • To change name on phone screen (Contact ext. 8888)*
  • Access for HCNet, FirstClass, EIS, FRS, LIS, Munro (Contact ext. 8888 to confirm)*
  • Name plate to identify workspace (Service Request Form: http://facilities.humber.ca)*
