Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award

Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber (Humber) are leaders in providing a learning, working and living environment that recognizes and values equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all programs and services. We are committed to cultivating an institutional culture that values, supports, and promotes equity, human rights, respect, and accountability among faculty, staff, and students. In our inclusive Humber community, we encourage and support individual and collaborative efforts to identify and address inequities.  We welcome and enable contributions of all voices as we engage with diverse ideas, knowledge, and perspectives in the pursuit of inclusive excellence for the public good.

The Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award recognizes one (1) individual or group who has demonstrated dedication to fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community in support of our strategic direction for a healthy and inclusive community.

All Humber/University of Guelph-Humber employees, having at least two (2) years' full-time service are eligible for this award. Employees may be nominated more than once but may not receive the award more than once in a three-year period. Individuals must be going beyond any initiatives/programs that the institution is already doing in this area.

Individuals or groups nominated for this award will have demonstrated dedication to fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community in support of our strategic direction for a healthy and inclusive community.

For example:

  • Initiation, support of, and/or significant involvement in the strategic plan, activities or projects that embed a commitment to the importance of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community

  • Demonstrated leadership (goes beyond expectations to support Humber's EDI initiatives), through the advancement of a collective commitment within their department, school, or group to inclusive excellence in achieving equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging goals

  • The award can recognize the implementation of a program, tool, or initiative that provides accommodation, addresses racism, and/or increases accessibility for equity-deserving groups resulting in fairer and more inclusive processes and practices

Award recipient(s) will receive the following:
