Mino Nawendiwin (Good Relationships) Award
The Mino Nawendiwin Award recognizes one (1) individual or group who has demonstrated dedication to braiding Indigenous content and initiatives that support Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing (IWBKD) on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community in support of our strategic direction for a healthy and inclusive community.
All Humber/University of Guelph-Humber employees, having at least two (2) years' full-time service are eligible for this award. Employees may be nominated more than once but may not receive the award more than once in a three-year period. Individuals must be going beyond any initiatives/programs that the institution is already doing in this area.
Individuals or groups nominated for this award will have demonstrated dedication to braiding Indigenous content and initiatives that support Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing (IWBKD) on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community in support of our strategic direction for a healthy and inclusive community.
This may iclude:

Initiation, support of, and/or significant involvement in the strategic plan, activities or projects that embed a commitment to the importance of IWBKD on campus, in the classroom, and/or within the community

Demonstrated leadership (goes beyond expectations to support Humber's EDI initiatives), through the advancement of a collective commitment within their department, school, or group to inclusive excellence in achieving goals related to IWBKD

The award can recognize the implementation of a program, tool, or initiative that results in more inclusive processes and practices that support IWBKD
Examples include (but are not limited to):

Encouraging student sharing and/or including learning content of IWBKD in the classroom

Being an accomplice and champion for Indigenous education

Specific examples in the past have included giving Indigenous medallions to national college champions, and the creation of the Eagle staff holder for convocation.
Award recipient(s) will receive the following:
- A plaque recognizing dedication to supporting Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing (IWBKD)
